It’s time for Casiokids!
With an upcoming tour of Norway, a performance at the Øya Festival this summer, and a suitcase packed with danceable indie songs, the group from Bergen are now ready to take you on a journey to space, around the sun, and back home. The first taste from their brand-new album is the double single "Brunsniggelen / Time for Home," and it launched April 11th.
After crafting new music for several years in both home and away studios – surrounded by countless synths and intense strobe lights – the masterpiece is finally complete in 2024. Tid for Hjem is an album that naturally fits into the present while also being a logical follow-up to Aabenbaringen over aaskammen.
The first teaser from the album is the irresistible and dance-friendly "Brunsniggelen" and the slightly more experimental title track from the record – “Tid for Hjem”.
Casiokids themselves say about the two songs:
Choosing just one song as the first single after waiting so long just felt a bit wrong. Casiokids used to release double singles on vinyl earlier, so considering the current era where everyone wants everything instantly, it was only fitting to release at least two songs.
"Brunsniggelen" advocates for the good, old empathy and tolerance. The idea that one must tolerate that someone is different from oneself, being able to give people a chance without pre-judging them, and that one doesn't need to be mean to people who are having a tough time. "Tid for Hjem" is about realizing it's time to go home. An eight-minute homage to the repetitive joys and sorrows of the party.
As members of an exclusive club of Norwegian-speaking artists with international success, Casiokids have played hundreds of concerts all over the world. This includes a long list of major international festivals, as well as live sessions for BBC and Radio France. Casiokids have been hyped by heavyweights like NME, Pitchfork, AllMusic, and Rolling Stone, and they were once awarded a million kroner in the form of the near-mythical A-ha grant
A few years after the release of their last album – Aabenbaringen over aaskammen – the band took a break. In the meantime, the band members explored other musical projects. Vocalist Fredrik Vogsborg has, among other things, been the band leader for Aurora and has won 3 Spellemannpriser (Norwegian music awards) respectively with The Megaphonic Thrift, Silja Sol, and Young Dreams.
