Midnight Machine is Hanne Kolstø and Sigurd Thomassen. Both contribute to the songwriting with their strong sense of melody, whilst Kolstø brings her unique lyrical universe, Thomassen also provides his singular sound. It all sounds euphoric and immediate. Together they are one of the most exciting new pairings to have come out of the Nordics in the last years.

Back in 2019, Kolstø recruited Thomassen to work on her new material. But the first meeting in Thomassens studio, turned into a jam session and exchange of ideas – the result was 3 new songs on the spot. Tobias Ørnes Andersen (Aiming for Enrike) was drafted on drums, and Midnight Machine came into being.

Hanne Kolstø is a legend on the Norwegian indie scene, with 9 studio albums to her name (2009-2019) and is regarded as one of the nation’s most original songwriters. She has been nominated for the Spellemann award four times and has released several internationally acclaimed albums. Sigurd Thomassen – a star on Oslo’s underground music scene – is a long-time member of innovative group Pow Pow, praised by outlets such as Pitchfork and Mojo. Several radio hits and festival gigs earned him high profile gigs as remixer and producer.
